When some people got their hands on the Nexus 7, their first instinct was to make an unboxing video. Everyone loves unboxing videos, right? Sure. Well, it turns out unboxing the Nexus 7 is harder than you might think.
YouTube user JLishere put together this montage of unboxing videos from AhmazinSKM, BlackPrince310, CNETTV, droiddog, googlenexus, jon4lakers, LATimes, LGiosguide, Marcthegeek, matuk, phandroid, phonedog, pocketnowvideo, and tldtoday. Hilariously, they all had massive issues opening the box.
While the look of the Nexus 7 might crib a bit from Apple, the quality of their packaging clearly did not. When it was designed, they didn’t think that human beings would ever have to open the box. It might not even be that they cut corners. Perhaps they don’t even care about the unboxing experience. In comparison, it is quite clear that Apple takes their packaging very seriously. Every interaction the customer has with an Apple product should be a positive one, and they clearly prioritize that. Google and Asus? They apparently don’t care so much about that aspect of the experience.
