Since releasing the new Kindle Fire HD, Amazon has been pretty open about comparing it to Apple’s Retina display iPads. Well, that’s probably the only thing they’e open about, considering we still have no idea how many the company has sold. Amazon’s latest comparison is seen in this TV ad, which pretty much says the displays are equally as good, but the price of the Kindle Fire is much better.
When Amazon released its earnings report back in October, it compared both devices spec by spec, noting that the 8.9-inch Kindle Fire HD has 193% more pixels than the iPad mini.
Amazon’s TV ad shows a side-by-side comparison of Apple’s Retina iPad and Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD. The ad notes that both devices offer “stunning HD” and “you may not be able to tell the difference,” but Amazon ends the ad by pointing out the pretty obvious price difference between the devices. Whereas Apple’s iPad with Retina display starts at $499, the Kindle Fire HD sells for significantly less at $299.
On top of that, this week Amazon is offering an extra $30-$50 off the Kindle Fire HD, so you can get one for $250 less than the iPad 4.
