With Apple rumored to announce a 7.85-inch iPad mini in the coming weeks, you may wonder how Apple’s tablet will stack up against Google’s Nexus 7 and Amazon’s latest tablet, the Kindle Fire HD, in terms of size. So while it’s pretty safe to say that the iPad mini will have similar internals to both of these, we’re still not totally sure how it will stack up physically, though we have seen some mockups in the past.
Because of this, the French website Nowhereelse.fr has published an image of their mockup iPad mini compared to both the Kindle Fire HD and the Nexus 7. The iPad mini is the largest of the pack as it’s rumored to have a 7.85-inch screen — this is larger than the others as both the Nexus 7 and Kindle Fire HD sport standard 7-inch screens. Nowhereelse.fr also measured the thickness of the iPad mini mockup and it came in at only 7.69mm, which is even thinner than the current iPad. If you’d like to see the image, we’ve embedded it above.
If you’re unaware, Apple should begin sending out press invites to their iPad mini event next week. We should expect the device to launch just before the holiday season starts as a cheaper iPad could do wonders to the iPad’s marketshare. The iPad mini is expected to feature a 7.85-inch multitouch screen with a resolution of 1024×768 (the same resolution as the iPad 2). The iPad mini is expected to cost anywhere between $249 – $299.
