While iOS 7 has brought with it a number of welcomed changes to Apple’s mobile OS, one area of much contention has been the new icons the update has brought with it. A number of users and developers have spoken out against the new icons, with some claiming them to be “hideous”.
To find a more accurate consensus on the new icons, a poll created on poll site “Polar” has asked users which icon they prefer, comparing each iOS 6 icon to the new iOS 7 equivalent. While users have decided that some icons such as Safari, Reminders and Game Center looked better back in iOS 6, the majority of apps are being voted as looking better in iOS 7.
Icons for apps like Messages and Phone are roughly four times as popular as their iOS 6 counterpart, while controversial icons like Music, Photos and Notes have all seen the iOS 7 version win by a substantial margin.
It will be interesting to see if Apple takes into account polls like this before the public release of iOS 7 in the fall. You can vote for yourself on which icons you like more here.
