“They’re the same thing. Apple just charges more!” Have you ever heard that statement uttered by one of your know-it-all friends? When it comes time to discuss why Apple charges so much for their chargers, it’s usually the first talking point that’s brought up. I bet you have. I know I have. Here’s the thing. Apple charges more because they’re better made. They’re safer.
Ken Shirrif pulled apart a legitimate iPad charger and a counterfeit version. The results aren’t shocking at all. One of the chargers is safe to use, and the other will probably burn your house down while you sleep at night. Which would you choose?
