Everyone’s favorite file syncing application has finally shed the 1.0. Dropbox has just taken version 2.0 live for Mac users. It may have been available for some time in beta, but it’s official, you can download 2.0 directly from Dropbox.
The release note, clearly inspired by Apple’s glorious approach, leaves a lot to be desired. However, the company does point out that there’s a new tray popup from the menubar, and better a timeline for your drops.
Users can now see invites immediately, and accept invitations to shared folders from directly within the menubar notification system. It’s all real-time. You don’t have to wait around for an email anymore.
Here are the rest of the details from the release notes:
New in 2.0.0:
- Fix a bug where discrete graphics would be enabled on OSX laptops.
- Add support for Brazilian Portuguese.
- Other small fixes.
Here are a few things you should know:
- It is only enabled on Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and above, and on Windows XP and above.
- It is not yet enabled on Linux.
