Dreams of a Grand Central Apple Store coming to an end

It was supposed to happen. Apple was supposed to bring an Apple Store to one of the most highly trafficked areas in New York City. But, it seems like the whole plan has fallen apart, and Apple’s no longer interested in building an iconic store in one of the most iconic buildings in NYC.

For the record, there was never definitive evidence that Apple would be locating to Grand Central Terminal, but hopes were high for a new store. The Observer originally reported the rumor, and they’re now the first to be reporting on the demise of the deal.

Take it for what you will—it could have been bunk from the beginning. But, that doesn’t mean that an Apple Store in Grand Central Terminal isn’t a great idea. How many people pass through that building on a day to day basis? How many tourists hit it up while vacationing in New York City? Who knows, maybe we’ll see an Apple Store in Grand Central at some point in the distant future.
