I’ve been having a pretty interesting discussion with @mbuckbee (on twitter) about a new application he’s developing and the integration of Growl notifications. Now, I’d like to think of myself as a pretty savvy internet/mac user, but I had no idea growl updates could even be put into a dashboard widget. How cool is that!
Anyway, Mike sent me a link to his application, Watchlister, which I happily tried out. Upon installing his widget, I realized the Growl Updates that were popping up had a dashboard icon, instead of an application Icon. So here’s my question to you.
- Would you like to get growl updates integrated into more Dashboard Widgets?
- Do you think that the Icon of the Growl Updates should be The Logo for the application, or dashboard? As a user would you know that this application was a dashboard item if the Icon was of Dashboard? Would you realize if you only got a couple updates from the widget every month?
