Following years of rumors, delays, and madness, BlackBerry Messenger is finally being released today for iPhone and Android. While the app is set to show up on the App Store within the next few hours, many users will be disappointed to find that they can’t actually use the messaging service.
The BBM app will be running on a staggered rollout that will have users register their e-mails online as they wait to be granted access. Those who signed-up earlier on for BBM on iPhone will be able to start using the service as soon as it launches.
BlackBerry revealed in a blog post today that even though the app isn’t out yet, a million people are already using BBM on iPhone. “What you don’t know is that more than one million people have found creative ways to “side load” BBM on their iPhone. This is incredible.”
Can there really be a million people with jailbroken iPhones that are already using BBM? That sounds crazy to me.
Either way, keep an eye on the App Store today if you want to download BlackBerry Messenger. Unfortunately, if you want to actually use it, you’ll have to wait aN unspecified amount of time until you’re at the front of the queue.
