Good news, AT&T customers! As of today, AT&T has launched nine new 4G LTE markets: Anchorage, Alaska; Bakersfield, California; Bridgeport, Connecticut; Jacksonville, Florida; Modesto, California; North Montgomery County, Maryland; Northern New Jersey; Omaha, Nebraska; and Syracuse, New York. If you’re in those areas, you should now be able to browse at break-neck speeds on your third generation iPad.
Not in those nine areas? No worries, mate. By the end of the year, AT&T will be rolling out 4G LTE to 44 new areas in the US:
Albany, New York; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Allentown, Pennsylvania; Birmingham, Alabama; Boise, Idaho; Charleston, South Carolina; Cincinnati, Ohio; Columbia, South Carolina; Columbus, Ohio; Detroit, Michigan; Denver-Boulder, Colorado; El Paso, Texas; Fayetteville, North Carolina; Ft. Myers, Florida; Gary, Indiana; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Green Bay, Wisconsin; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; Hartford, Connecticut; Hawaii; Knoxville, Tennessee; Lancaster, Pennsylvania; Little Rock, Arkansas; Louisville, Kentucky; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Minneapolis-St. Paul, Minnesota; Memphis, Tennessee; Nashua, New Hampshire; New Haven, Connecticut; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Portland, Oregon; Providence, Rhode Island; Reading, Pennsylvania; Rochester, New York; Sacramento, California; Salinas-Seaside-Monterey, California; Seattle, Washington; Springfield, Massachusetts; Toledo, Ohio; Tucson, Arizona; Tulsa, Oklahoma; Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania; and Wilmington, Delaware.
As the iPhone 5’s release nears, it is almost a certainty at this point that it will include an LTE radio. AT&T has spent well over a hundred billion dollars in the past five years getting their shit together, so it looks like slow mobile speeds might be a thing of the past. Let’s hope.
