It’s the end of another week, which means it’s time for our weekly top apps post. This week we feature a couple of games, as well as the perfect app for your upcoming party planning, and an artist tool that’s unparalleled on iOS.
Table of Contents
iPhone / iPod touch: Food And Wine
This free application is perfect for the upcoming summer season. With over 350 drink recipes and a whole bunch of crazy food recipes, your next barbecue doesn’t have to suck any more. The really cool thing about the app is that it helps you pair drinks to food types so that you can make sure to serve complimentary beverages at your next shindig.

New iPad: Procreate
Remember when we were all in a tizzy over Paper? Yeah, Paper isn’t even qualified to hold Procreate’s paint can. Procreate is pretty much Paper times a billion. With realistic stokes, synthetic pressure sensitivity, and layering up to 16 layers, it’s pretty obvious why Procreate is the sketching and painting app of professional artists on the iPad. If you’re into this kind of thing, it’ll only set you back $4.99 off the hop. We recommend checking this one out.

The Mac: Bastion
It’s been a while since we’ve recommended a game for the Mac. Bastion has given us an excellent excuse to recommend the RPG in today’s Apps Of The Week post. The artwork is reminiscent of Braid, with over 40 hand-painted environments, the narration is fantastic, and the gameplay is amazing. All in all, if you’re looking for one game to eat up your weekend, pick up Bastion. It’s only $14.99.

Game Of The Week: N.O.V.A 3
When it comes to FPS games on your iPad, the N.O.V.A series is pretty much the gold standard. This Halo-inspired game has only been out for a couple of days, but it’s already eating up my gaming time on my iPad. N.O.V.A 3 continues to push the boundaries of gaming capabilities on the iPad, and it’s certainly worth the price tag. If you’re into FPS gaming, you need to give this one a download.
