It looks as though Apple is preparing to show off its latest version of its video editing app Final Cut Pro at an event during the National Association of Broadcasters trade show next week. The NAB is a natural venue for the new Final Cut Pro to make an appearance. According to ProVideo Coalition, at the tenth annual SuperMeet of the Final Cut Pro User Group (FCPUG) network, a very special guest presentation has been announced. All previously announced speakers have been removed from the agenda for the evening.
Philip Bloom, one of the previously scheduled speakers, confirmed with PVC that Canon had cancelled his talk at the SuperMeet, and that Apple had demanded all stage time exclusively. Avid, who was to host filmmaker Kevin Smith during the SuperMeet, has moved his talk to another venue, and confirmed that their sponsorship of the event had been cancelled.
It isn’t too hard to guess that the new version of FCP will be shown, and many are anticipating it to be a big step forward in not just video editing features, but the entire paradigm of video editing. Reports from a closed, invite only hands on preview of FCP had professional editors coming away highly impressed. Looks like we’ll get to see what all the fuss is about after next week.
