As if iOS and Apple TV updates weren’t enough, Apple has unleashed the OS X 10.9.5 update unto an unsuspecting populace.
Per Apple:
The OS X Mavericks v10.9.5 Update is recommended for all OS X Mavericks users. It improves the stability, compatibility, and security of your Mac. This update:
- Improves the reliability of VPN connections that use USB smart cards for authentication
- Improves the reliability of accessing files located on an SMB server
- Includes Safari 7.0.6
OS X 10.9.5 also includes the requisite security fixes.
Meanwhile, update fatigue might be setting in among the masses:
Oh sure Apple, throw in a 10.9.5 update because I haven’t already downloaded multiple gigs today.

As usual, the OS X 10.9.5 update is free, and can be yours if the price is right via the Updates tab in the App Store app.
