Apple Odd Stuff: Steve Jobs Action Figure

I’m sorry but this deserves an entire post all to itself. I’ve covered Steve Jobs dolls before, but this is the mother of all Steve Jobs dolls. I first became aware of this through Stephen Hackett from his 512 Pixels post. It linked to an article by The Verge that had a few pics that showed quite a bit of detail on this doll. I looked at the two pics and agreed that the realness was a bit startling, except for the tiny Mac, but it appears that the Mac’s not included.

So what does Steve include in his oh so iPhone-esque box?

  • One realistic head sculpture and two pairs of glasses
  • One highly articulated body and three pairs of hands
  • One black turtleneck and one pair of blue jeans
  • One black leather belt and one chair (wood and metal)
  • One pair of black socks & sneaker
  • Two apples (one with a bite.)
  • One piece of “ONE MORE THING” hard backdrop

I have quite a few realistic action figure type dolls based on real people, including two Ash dolls that come with boomsticks and even the chainsaw attachment. The amount of accessories coming with the Steve doll is quite impressive. Three sets of hands to position him in all of his most iconic poses. The detail on the New Balance sneakers is fantastically accurate. All in all this is beautifully done, it just still has a bit of a creep factor since he has passed.

The action figure is pre-selling for $99 with a shipping date of February. It is being reported that the Chinese company was sent a letter from Apple legal telling them to knock it off and they plan on suing the pants off of them (OK, so that may not have been the exact wording). Apple previously was able to block the sale of the M.I.C. Gadget Steve doll in 2011. This will be interesting to see how it all turns out, but I have a feeling Apple will get its way.
