Some of you probably hate the Microsoft advertisements about Claude and the cloud, but they raise a very interesting point: Do we need more Claude or do we actually need the cloud? Turns out that Apple has the answer, and it involves bringing Claude to the cloud along with Sally and Tommy and everyone else with a computer and an internet connection.
Yup, you read that right. We’ve been talking for a while about iTunes moving to the cloud, but according to a new job description posted on Apple’s website, the company’s aspirations may extend far beyond iTunes.
The job posting is pretty much a poster advertisement for the future of cloud services. Apple’s official job description is listed as, “Explore the far reaches of the possible by joining the team building the future of cloud services at Apple!”
Sure, iTunes in the cloud could be part of ‘the future,’ but something tells us that the grandiose claim just might not be hyperbole. Something big has to be coming from Cupertino, and if not, the winner of that job posting is going to be seriously disappointed.
It’s somewhat ironic that this job positing comes at time when Peter Misek, an analyst for Jefferies is announcing that he thinks that iTunes is getting a cloud makeover that’s going to revolutionize music. Misek also believes that Apple’s building a second data center right next to their new one in North Carolina. To all of these things we say, duh, welcome to the rumor mill six months ago.
