After Google released the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10 with Android 4.2, a rather embarrassing mistake surfaced: December doen’t exist in Google’s People app. The People app allows users to add their friends’ birth dates and other important dates to their calendar. Fortunately, this bug doesn’t affect Android 4.2’s calendar, though it’s still very unprofessional on Google’s part and inconvenient to users. Rest assured, Google has posted on Google+ that this bug will be fixed sooner rather than later. We’ve embedded the post below:
“We discovered a bug in the Android 4.2 update, which makes it impossible to enter December events in optional fields of the People app (this bug did not affect Calendar). Rest assured, this will be fixed soon so that those of you with December birthdays and anniversaries won’t be forgotten by your friends and family.”
When bugs like this arise, it really makes me wonder if Google actually tests its operating systems before bringing them to the mass market. Not to mention that Google didn’t even acknowledge the bug existed until today, even though it was discovered about five days ago. Let’s hope Google gets this bug ironed out before next month, which just happens to be December.
