Two Out Of Five Mac Users Have Upgraded To OS X Mavericks

We often hear about how quick the adoption rate is for software updates over on iOS, but what about OS X?

A new report from analytics firm Chitika estimates that two out of five Mac users are now running OS X Mavericks, Apple’s latest and greatest update for its Mac OS.

Chikita calculated that between March 17th and 23rd, 40% of all web page impressions that it monitored from Mac users came from those running Mavericks.

These relatively high numbers don’t come as too much surprise, as Mavericks was the first major software update for Mac that Apple chose to release for free. In the seven months since its release, Mavericks has managed to gain 13% more users than what OS X Mountain lion achieved in the same period of time.

Of course there are some inaccuracies, as Chitika doesn’t monitor every site on the Internet and some Macs don’t even support Mavericks, but 40% is certainly a good sign.

It will be interesting to see what Apple does going forward to get that number even closer to the world leading adoption rates on iOS.
