iFixit, a popular gadget repair website, is well known for “tearing down” new Apple products as they’re released. In these tea downs, iFixit completely disassembles the product and writes notes on how easy the gadget is to repair or upgrade.
Yesterday, iFixit got their hands on the new Retina display MacBook Pro. After taking it apart, they have come to the conclusion that the new MacBook is almost impossible to repair with no user replaceable parts. This is because the MacBook Pro uses a proprietary SSD and the RAM is soldered to the motherboard. This is not the case for the older MacBook Pro design as the hard drive and RAM are easily replaceable by the user.
