A new job posting online dropped a huge hint that Apple could be thinking about ditching NVIDIA as its graphics card supplier in future versions of the Mac. The job posting, dug up by our friends over at AppleBitch, specifically seeks out applicants that have experience in “Intel chipsets, power management, and AMD and/or Nvidia GPUs.”
Apple’s gone back and forth between including NVIDIA, AMD, ATI, and Intel GPUs in its computers over the last decade. It flip-flops more than a politician in the hot seat during a presidential debate.
The listing is relatively new, so even if Apple’s laying the foundation for a change up to AMD, the results of that move could be a couple generations down the road at this point. Companies don’t just make this kind of change over night.
