Feral Interactive has announced that they’ll be bringing the acclaimed game, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, to the Macintosh. The game is the second sequel to the 2000 classic from Eidos, Deus Ex, in which you play the role of J.C. Denton, a cybernetically-augmented agent who is on the trail of a world-changing conspiracy in the not-too-distant future. The first sequel, Deus Ex: Invisible War, never made it to the Mac… but that’s probably okay seeing as the game didn’t meet with the same positive response that the first enjoyed. Human Revolution seems to be ringing the same bells, however, scoring 89 on Metacritic and lighting a fire under reviewers both online and in print.
On a personal note, few games have impressed me the way that Deus Ex did. Many developers attempt to marry RPG elements with First Person Shooter gameplay but often fail, delivering a combined but reduced rendition of both. Deus Ex offered an elegant and nuanced gameplay while, at the same time, boasting great graphics (for the era) and a compelling, engrossing storyline. Even after 11 years, it’s endured as one of my top three favorites of all time.
There’s no word from Feral just yet as to when the game will be released or what the pricing will be. Information is more likely to pop up closer to the release date itself.
