Developer Deniz Mert Edincik has just hacked together a Retina display compatibility patch for Twitter for Mac. Edincik has released the patched application for free via Twitter through a Mediafire download link. When a MacBook Pro with Retina display user installs the patched Twitter for Mac application, they’ll notice that most of Twitter’s UI elements have been updated to support the extra pixels that the Retina display offers. We’ve embedded Edincik’s tweet, which contains the download link, below:

Why hasn’t Twitter updated their Mac app with Retina display compatibility? Unfortunately for us Mac users, Twitter may have unofficially ended Twitter for Mac support earlier this year. Twitter has recently begun moving away from all of its desktop applications, whether it’s their own or third-party alternatives. If you’re not a Retina display user but would still like to use the aging Twitter for Mac, you can download it for free on the Mac App Store.
