MacRabbit, the kool kats behind CSSEdit and Espresso, have decided that it’s time to merge their two applications into one well-rounded CSS tool for web developers. Developers who made use of both applications were apparently switching between the applications quite frequently to use the X-ray functionality in CSSEdit, and then hopping into Espresso to use the advanced editing, publishing and workflow features. The result? MacRabbit has killed off CSSEdit.
Don’t fret, MacRabbit hasn’t killed off CSSEdit entirely. They’ve decided that the best course of action is to combine their two applications and keep Espresso. As of now, you can get CSSEdit functionality from directly within Espresso.
Espresso 2 is out now, and we think it will make a lot of people very happy. CSSEdit is now exclusively integrated, with advanced new visual tools for CSS3 gradients, shadows and more. Also making the jump from CSSEdit are X-ray, Live Styling and Overrides — the awesome technologies that have made CSS styling on the Mac fun and productive for years.
The CSSEdit page on the MacRabbit website redirects to Espresso, and customers are free to take Espresso 2 for a 15-day trial. Should you find yourself looking to purchase the application, you can get it for $79.00. Sadly, Espresso is not available on the Mac App Store, so you’ll have to get it from the MacRabbit website.
