Apple Seeds New Build Of Mountain Lion 10.8.1 To Devs

While the launch of Mountain Lion has been quite successful, it hasn’t been without problems. Operating systems are incredibly complex, so bugs are bound to ship. Luckily, it looks like we’re nearing the release of 10.8.1 as a new developer build has been seeded.

Alex Heath:

Apple has seeded yet another OS X 10.8.1 developer beta today (build 12B17). The update contains no known issues, and developers are still asked to focus on specific areas like Active Directory, iCal, and Microsoft Exchange in Mail.

I have had two particularly annoying experiences with 10.8.0. First off, my transition from Lion went horribly awry, and I ended up taking it to the Genius Bar to get nuked. Likely, it had something to do with a quirk in my Bootcamp install. The second issue is that the SystemUIServer process runs wild every once in a while, and that leads to my menu bar becoming frozen in place. Heck, it even led to a kernel panic not long ago. Hopefully, this release will help stability substantially.

So, are you running Mountain Lion, or are you waiting for this point release to make the jump? If you are on Mountain Lion, have you experienced any problems? Let us know by sounding off in the comment section below this post. We love to hear from our readers.
