Those white MacBooks have always been a bit of a pain for Apple, despite being one of their best sellers. I know numerous people who have problems with plastic cracking on the previous generation MacBook. They always seem to be going in for repairs. And now the unibody MacBook seems to be having some problems of its own. The rubber padding on the bottom of the device seems to be pulling away from the computer, and separating in a way that was obviously not intended when it shipped.
Apple has determined that under certain circumstances the rubber surface on some MacBooks may separate from the bottom case of the system. MacBooks shipped between October 2009 and April 2011 may experience this issue.
If you find yourself in a similar situation, you can now take your Macbook into the Apple Store and they’ll replace it for you, free of charge. Or, should you feel handy enough to fix it yourself, you can order a replacement kit online. Either way, you have some options now.
