In an ever-escalating game of “No, YOU shut up,” Samsung has promised that they will step up legal attacks against Apple to whup their asses for what Samsung calls “free riding” on their patented technologies. Samsung’s Lee Younghee told Associated press that they’ve been “passive” with Apple up till now, but are about to stop playing Mr. Nice Tech Company. “We’ll be pursuing our rights for this in a more aggressive way from now on,” she said before disappearing in a cloud of smoke while a disembodied cackle could be heard in the distance.
No specific lawsuit was mentioned by Younghee, but Samsung has been locked in legal battles with Apple for a while now. They’re not the only aggressor, either: Apple has managed to get the Galaxy Tab 10.1 banned in Germany and is currently trying to do the same in a number of other countries (citing infringement of look and feel as grounds). Apple is also attempting to divest themselves of attachments to Samsung, who currently makes processors for their iPhones and iPads, by seeking out other suppliers. It’s not certain that there’s a connection between Apple’s decision to do this and an increase in hostile legal offensives, but I wouldn’t be surprised.
Last week it was revealed that a Samsung manager leaked information about the first generation iPad to hedge fund representatives, so yeah. No love lost there.
