I grew up on Mario Kart. The game was simple and very addicting. So addicting in fact that I spent a lot of time playing Mario Kart with my roommates in college a decade after its original release. That being said, most of my game play in the last couple of years has been on my Xbox 360 and my iOS devices. Nintendo will not bring Mario Kart to the iPhone or iPad, but it seems like Sega will.
Sega has announced that Sonic & Sega All-Stars will be available on the iPhone and in the App Store. It’s very much a Mario Kart clone, but with Sega characters. It’ll be interesting to see how this game plays out, and it’s a very smart move on Sega’s part. There are already two-dozen iOS apps on the App Store from Sega, and a number that feature Sonic. The more Sega gets its games in front of iPhone and iPad users, the happier Sega fans will be. Sega has not announced a shipping date yet for the game, but we’ll be sure to let you know once we hear.
