Solavei To Sell iPhone-Compatible Nano SIMs

Solavei, a prepaid mobile phone carrier in the United States, is now selling iPhone 5-compatible nano SIM cards. This news comes after Strata Networks announced that it will soon be carrying the iPhone. Solavei sent out a press release earlier today about the added availability of nano SIMs on its network. In the release, the company noted that these SIM cards do indeed work with the iPhone 5:

Solavei®, an affordable contract-free mobile service provider, today announces the availability of nano SIM cards, compatible with the iPhone 5, and widening the company’s phone compatibility to include all major smartphones.

Solavei is a prepaid carrier that is popular among budget users because of the company’s signature $49 unlimited voice, data and text plan. However, in order to get on the network, you should expect to drop $9 on the SIM card. The company piggybacks off of T-Mobile USA’s cell towers, so the network won’t support 3G iPhone speeds in some markets. The company did say, however, that it will support T-Mobile’s LTE network when it launches later this year.

If you plan to use an iPhone 5 on Solavei’s network, you’ll have to purchase an off-contract iPhone 5 from Apple beforehand. This is because, as of now, the company doesn’t seem to be offering the device for sale on its website. If the company does start to offer the phone for sale, don’t expect significant discounts as Solavei is a prepaid network.
