Scribblenauts was one of the original DS’ breakthrough games. Its take on the puzzle genre was unique with its protagonist a dictionary and your imagination. You see, whatever you typed magically appeared on screen ready for manipulation.
Checkpoint out of reach? Write down the word ladder and it would be conjured for use. How about an alternate approach; a catapult to fling yourself across the level? What about a miniature plane? It was a clever puzzler limited only by your imagination and a family friendly filter.
Today saw the release of a full iOS port, Scribblenauts Remix. Remix has the original’s 40 puzzles as well as 10 completely new levels to entice those already familiar with the series. Also interesting is the use of iCloud to sync saves between iPad, iPod touch and iPhone versions of the game. It means if you’re a multiple device gamer, there’s no need to repetitively grind through the same levels anymore.
It’s available to buy now for $4.99 /£2.99. Obviously if it’s not for you, there’s always Kariosoft’s excellent Grand Prix Story which we reviewed yesterday.
