The iPhone’s great for snapping photos at a moment’s notice, but it’s not so great at taking snaps in less than optimal lighting conditions. I learned that one the hard way when relying on my iPhone 4S and 5 to document the first few years of my daughter’s life. The Lightstrap, a case with a built in light source and independent battery, is hoping to make the pain out of snapping pics in dim places.
It’s a Kickstarter project, but it’s already getting some decent reviews. The Lightstrap seems to be living up to its reputation as a ring flash for your iPhone quite nicely. The evidence online points to a softer, more evenly lit photo, just like you would expect from a ring flash. The light’s got a pretty strong battery life too, lasting around 500 pictures, or 30 minutes of video, before it dies out and needs charging.
It’s a great idea. I think I’m gonna pick one of these up.
