As we all know, Apple has been doing a phenomenal job at keeping vagrants from capitalizing on the vulnerabilities inherent in any OS system. Nonetheless, the fine people responsible for so many of our existing jailbreaks have been hard at work.
Previously, we reported on how an untethered jailbreak for the iPhone 5 might be a possibility in the future, something that may hinge on the release of the latest iteration of iOS 6. Well, it’s out. So, what’s next for the future of jailbroken phones?
According to International Digital Times, hacker @mdowd recently tweeted that he had downloaded iOS 6.0.1 to examine if Apple has patched the copyin() bug. This, in turn, sort of coincides with how @planetbeing has been keeping a lid on the three exploits they had discovered. Like the folk over at International Digital Times, we have a feeling that it may well be because @planetbeing and others like them are intent on seeing whether the vulnerabilities in the system have been patched yet.
If so, a jailbroken iOS 6.0.1 may well be on the horizon. If not, well, it’ll probably take a little longer still.
Interestingly, @musclenerd from iPhone Dev-Team has also suggested that users save their 6.0 blobs and stay there. Are they preparing for an announcement soon? Perhaps. We’ll just have to wait and see.
