Good news, gamers! Infinity Blade II is now out in the iOS App Store, and it looks *very* pretty. In fact, it’s hard to believe that something this good can be running on a mobile device. Looking at these screenshots, it makes Nintendo’s 3DS games look like dinosaurs from a time long forgotten.
If you’re an iPod touch user, an iPhone fan, or an iPad enthusiast, you’ll be very happy. The iPod touch 3rd and 4th generation, the iPhone 3GS, 4, and 4S, and iPads 1 and 2 are all fully supported. All you need is iOS 3.2 or later. I think that’s a pretty safe assumption.
What really fascinates me is how game developers have truly flocked to iOS so very quickly. Unlike the Mac, which still has little-to-no love from game devs, the iOS App Store is flooded with AAA titles at incredibly low prices. Speaking of which, Infinity Blade II is only $6.99 USD. A mere seven bucks gives you the state of the art in mobile 3D rendering. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it, Nintendo.
As far as gameplay goes, it’s yet to be seen how gamers like the changes made since the first game. While the first Infinity Blade was fairly simple and repetitive, it had a few addictive aspects to it that kept people coming back. Heck, it even had four content updates to it that had no additional cost. Let’s hope that the sequel sees the same post-launch love.
