Say “Fromage!” The folks over at Hipstamatic are having a media event on December 13th. What, exactly, does that entail? We don’t know yet, but they have given us a strange and cryptic one-liner to ponder: “Making analog digital… Again.”
I’m excited to see what the Hipstamatic team has up their sleeves. As we all know, they have been pounded with competition in the specialty iPhone camera app market — especially by Instagram. If they actually have something novel to announce, we could be in for a barrage of next-gen camera apps trying to jump on the bandwagon. It’s worth keeping an eye on for sure, but this is just based on a release from the company. I’m not getting my hopes up just yet.
If I have my druthers, this announcement will be based around something that makes taking, editing, and sharing photos better and easier. If my reading of their marketing is correct, we can look forward to a move away from the overdone focus on photo filters. That would certainly be welcome in my book.
