An iOS hacker has pulled apart Game Center and figured out how to submit faulty scores to any game that has included the service. It sucks, but it’s kind of amusing at the same time.
It’s not amusing for most, but hacking gamer scores is something I used to do back when I was a kid. I’ve spent countless hours trying to figure out what text files contained the scores to popular games when I was a kid. I couldn’t help it. No matter what, I couldn’t beat some of my father’s scores during those Windows 3.1 days. The only problem was that I was still a kid and didn’t realize that beating the next best high-score by a couple hundred thousand points was a little too obvious. Live and learn I guess.
Having been there, I kind of get the delight in doing something like this, but I have to ask: how many people actually pay attention to high scores on Game Center? After using it for a couple of days after launch, I haven’t really opened it since. Have you?
