A new report out of Bloomberg has revealed that Apple has asked Foxconn to begin hiring employees again at its Zhengzou factory, following a hiring freeze that took place in February. The new employees will reportedly work on Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5S and low-cost iPhone as well as past versions of Apple’s phone.
Apple’s Zhengzou factory was apparently told a month ago to begin hiring more employees to help with the extra work of manufacturing Apple’s upcoming iPhones. The Zhengzou factory is a massive manufacturing facility that is only focused on making Apple’s iPhones and that already hosts more than 250,000 employees. The Wall Street Journal reports that Foxconn has now been adding to this number, with an additional 10,000 assembly line employees every week since the end of March.
Information about Apple’s upcoming iPhone (or iPhones) and when it will be released are all still just rumors at this point. Most recent rumors point to a new fingerprint sensor on the iPhone 5S.
