Verizon’s about to announce that the iPhone is now available on their network (should the announcement rumors be true), which is a big deal for some, but according to Coverage, it might not be that big of a deal to others in the US.
If you’re thinking about making the switch from AT&T to Verizon today, you should probably double check the coverage in your area first. Luckily, there’s “an app for that.” Two Steps Beyond has put together a universal application that lets you toggle coverage maps in the US. You can see how well you’re covered on the AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile networks in your area.
It’s pretty surprising to see just how little coverage AT&T has in the US. It kind of makes you wonder what Apple was thinking when they decided to pick AT&T as their exclusive carrier.
On a completely unrelated yet related note, welcome to the iPhone world, Verizon customers. Verizon’s big event is scheduled to start in 30 minutes, and we’ll provide coverage where we can. We’re not at the event, but by this point in the game we all know what’s coming anyway.
