Still need convincing that the iPhone is a viable gaming platform? Capcom is releasing a version of its popular Devil May Cry series to the device sometime in late January/early February. Devil May Cry 4: Refrain brings a condensed version of the hack and slash demon hunting game from the console to the iPhone, featuring 10 levels and 8 bosses to fight your way through.
You play as Nero from the console version, with his demonic arm weapon the Devil Bringer. The Devil May Cry series on the console is known for its fast-paced action and massive attack combos, and Capcom hopes to translate the fluidity of the game to the iPhone version. The game will feature a simplified mode with three buttons for jump, sword or gun attacks, and demonic arm attack. The regular four button mode splitting the sword and gun attacks, is also available for more experienced players.
While not officially confirmed, Capcom did hint at future updates which will add Dante as a playable character, as well as new game modes.
As more and more hard core action games make their way to the iPhone and iOS, Nintendo and Sony must be increasingly concerned about the iPhone as a gaming device. Who would have thought that Apple would be making inroads into gaming, after so many years of disinterest?
Devil May Cry 4: Refrain for the iPhone releases sometime before the middle of February, and is likely to cost $6.99.
