Today BlackBerry has introduced its Secure Work Space service for both Android and iOS, which allows users to control all of their devices through the BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10. This service lets you manage all of your devices and keep your corporate and personal-owned device safe and secure, including BlackBerry OS, BlackBerry 10, iOS and Android devices.
This is a feature that users have been eagerly waiting for, as the company said it would launch around mid-year. The BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 is a new service that launched at the beginning of the year and allows BlackBerry clients to control a number of mobile devices on their internal networks.
“With an integrated management console, our clients can now see all of the devices they have on their network, manage those devices and connect to them securely,” David Smith, head of enterprise mobile computing at BlackBerry, explained in an interview.
With the new Secure Work Space now on Android and iOS, clients can secure and manage any data on those devices as well. The feature will allow Android and iOS users to securely access corporate email, calendars, contacts, tasks, memos, Web browsing and document editing, which will be locked up with a password. Your personal content will remain separate from the secure data, so you won’t have to enter a password or connect to the secure services if you just want to play a game or watch a funny video.
Since launching in January, 18,000 BlackBerry Enterprise Service 10 have been installed, which is up from 12,000 just one month ago. More than 60% of U.S. Fortune 500 companies are either testing or already using the system.
No word on if it’s NSA proof though…
