Apps of the Week: Temple Run, GTA 3, and Angry Birds Seasons

It’s Friday, and that means it’s time to take a look at some awesome apps for each platform: iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS. Today, we’re focusing on games – really.

Ready? Let’s begin.

iPhone/iPod touch:

Temple Run: This game is quite simple, but very addicting. It starts off with a man running out of the mouth of a cave. He’s being chased by some sort of black creatures with just skulls for heads. Then, you take control of this man’s faith. Slide up and down to jump and slide. Tilt your device left and right to collect coins and powerups. Cash in your coins for upgrades and new characters. Oh, and the road never ends. Sounds simple, right? Now here’s the fun part. Play this game a million times in hopes of getting the highest score – ever. Check the stats of your friends for bragging rights and whatever you do, don’t get eaten by the black creatures. It’s just embarrassing.

iPad:

Grand Theft Auto 3: I’ll be honest. The first GTA games to hit iOS sucked. It was as simple as that. However, I must say that GTA 3 has made up for that tragedy and then some. The story line is basically the same, the maps are identical, and the fun is 10x that of the PSP days. HD quality resolution, customizable controls for the mobile platform, and countless hours of gameplay. The only thing missing is cheat codes. So spend a few bucks and go back in time. This game is worth it.

Mac:

Angry Birds Seasons: I think the name of this game introduces itself. It’s Angry Birds Seasons… for the Mac. Enjoy playing the game that won the world on your 13-, 15-, or 17-inch screens. Enjoy every pixel and every pig oink.
