Every Friday, we take a look at some awesome apps for each platform: iPhone, iPad, and Mac OS. Today, we’re focusing on podcasts, mobile writing, and RSS reading.
Ready? Let’s begin.
iPhone/iPod touch:
Instacast: Love podcasts? So do we. In fact, we have one ourselves (as you can see in the image above). However, it can easily become a hassle to stay up-to-date with the latest episodes of every podcast you follow. That’s where Instacast comes in. With its simple UI, you’ll never feel overwhelmed again. Add your podcast, set how often you want the app to refresh itself, and bam! All your podcasts in one place updating on their own. Listen and play them anytime you choose!

iPad:
Elements: There’s no denying that the iPad has a great keyboard, especially with the new split feature introduced in iOS 5. Sometimes typing on this tablet is a better alternative. So, why not type in a distraction free app? Elements is just that. Make folders to organize your files, change the view for bright and dark environments, use word count and other tools to monitor your progress, and use markup to, well, make it pretty. Oh, did I mention that the app syncs your files to Dropbox? Automatically?

Mac OS:
Reeder: Yes, you want to keep up to date with your podcasts. But what about your news? Ever find yourself going from site to site on a daily basis? Then, when you go back to a site, you can’t find that awesome article you started? Reeder solves all this and more. By syncing with your Google Reeder account, Reeder brings you news and articles from all your favorite sources all in one beautiful app. You can even star off your favorite articles to read later, and group your sources by their topic/niche (tech, design, health, etc.). Check it out!
