Apple had an amazing Christmas in terms of sales. The company released some figures for their 2011 holiday season. On Christmas Day alone, the company made $120 million in iTunes sales. This can help to explain those staggering numbers we heard yesterday. In the entire fiscal quarter, the iTunes store brought in a massive $1.7 billion in revenue. In other words, Christmas was responsible for 7 percent of 3 months worth of sales. With such a high revenue report and iOS device sales, Apple CEO Tim Cook had a few words:
We’re thrilled with our outstanding results and record-breaking sales of iPhones, iPads and Macs. Apple’s momentum is incredibly strong, and we have some amazing new products in the pipeline.
Apple also reported that they’ve made available over 20 million songs in the iTunes store. They’ve shipped over 37 million iPhones in the last three months of 2011, and the iBooks Author app has been downloaded over 600,000 times in under one week. Apple is on a roll.
