Thirty-five percent of consumers plan on purchasing iPhone 5

Either people are really struggling with their iPhone 3G phones or consumers are starting to get iPhone fever again. According to a PriceGrabber report, 35 percent of those surveyed are planning on purchasing the next-generation iPhone. Who are we kidding — it’s probably both of the aforementioned cases all mixed up.

Apple’s had supply problems in the past when it has released new iPhone models, and given the fact that this release is already going into September, there’s probably going to be added demand for the phone.  That means bigger lineups! Woo.

The PriceGrabber report has revealed that:

Of these respondents, 51 percent indicated that they will buy the smartphone within the first year of release, 30 percent will purchase it before the end of 2011, 14 percent will buy it within the first month, and 7 percent will buy it within the first week.

Long story short, prepare to get into line early if you’re expecting to walk away with an iPhone 5 on the first day it’s released.

I know I’ll be at the front of the line on release day. My iPhone 3G is going to be taken out behind the shed and beat enwith a shovel at this point. How about you? Getting the new iPhone?
