If you needed any more confirmation that the iPad mini has stereo speakers, here you go. A determined Apple fan, “Alex,” emailed Phil Schiller, Apple’s VP of Worldwide Marketing, about the issue. His question was pretty simple: does the iPad have stereo speakers? Luckily for us, Phil was cool and decided to respond to his email. We’ve embedded both the sender’s email as well as Phil’s response below:
Alex’s email to Phil Schiller:
I understand the tech specs about iPad Mini online should cover everything, but the tech specs online neither confirm or deny the rumors of iPad Mini’s speakers being stereo. Is it possible to get confirmation from the man himself as to whether these are mono or stereo?
Phil’s response was pretty much to-the-point:
It is stereo
So there you have it. We can finally stop yelling at each other about whether or not the iPad mini has stereo speakers. It is worth noting that Apple’s site only lists the iPad to have “built-in speaker.” I’m pretty excited to see how the iPad mini’s speakers sound as the speakers on my third-generation iPad sound pretty “meh.” Hopefully this is fixed with the mini. We should also point out that pretty much every single iPad mini review already published points out that the iPad mini has stereo speakers.
In fact, the news is being passed around so much that it forced Amazon to pull its comparison chart because of misinformation.
