Jeff Weiner, the CEO of LinkedIn, has just given all LinkedIn employees a completely free iPad mini. The company currently has 3,500 employees, each of who were given a 32GB iPad mini, which retails for $429. If all of these iPads were purchased at face value, LinkedIn spent over $1.5 million on iPads for its employees. The iPads were given to employees during one of LinkedIn’s biweekly All Hands meetings. Funny thing is, Macgasm has 5 employees, and we get nothing. What a rip.
A LinkedIn spokesperson said the following to Business Insider about the gift.
We wanted to acknowledge the hard work and accomplishments of all of our employees in 2012. During today’s biweekly All Hands meeting, we surprised our employees with iPad Minis as a small gesture of the company’s gratitude for their contributions.
LinkedIn just reported its best quarter ever, beating revenue expectations by a cool $25 million. The company’s Q4 2012 earnings show that the company raked in $303.6 million in revenues during the quarter, beating Wall Street’s projected $278 million by a long shot. LinkedIn’s revenue increased by 81% on a year-over-year basis. Today, LinkedIn’s stock closed at $157.71 per share.
Today seems like a good day to be working for LinkedIn, and a rather questionable one to be slaving away here at Macgasm.
