According to data published by Japanese consumer electronics tracking company BCN, over half of the top ten tablets sold in Japan are iPads. Six of the top ten tablets include the 16GB silver iPad Air and 16GB silver iPad mini taking first and second place.
The 32GB silver iPad Air, 16GB slate iPad mini, 64GB silver iPad Air, and 16GB slate iPad Air taking fifth, eighth, ninth, and tenth place respectively. Third, fourth, sixth, and seventh places belong to various members of Asus’ Nexus 7 family of tablet.
These numbers reinforce the point that Japan is Apple’s most up and coming market. During Apple’s last earnings call, the company revealed that it holds 50% of the Japanese tablet market and 37% of the Japanese smartphone market. The company has seen sales rise by almost 30% during Apple’s previous fiscal year.
