Gameloft brings Richard Overy’s War In The Pacific to life on the iPad

Some of you might not know this about me, but I spent my undergraduate years studying politics and history. I know, it’s a far cry from anything tech related, but it was something I was passionate about back then. Just like my article about the History of Jazz application yesterday, this particular application is a clash of two very distinct interests of mine.

Gameloft, the development group behind a ton of excellent iOS games (N.O.V.A, etc) has thrown their hat into the education 2.0 ring by relasing an interactive version of Richard Overy’s War In The Pacific (Amazon).

If you have any qualms about the benefits of having technologies such as the iPad in classrooms, this might just help you get over it. The industrial revolution model of education is dead, and kids need this kind of stimulation to learn today, whether we like it or not.

This application will run the user through a dense amount of information, videos, and other excellent media-rich content about the Pacific campaigns during World Ward 2.

The iPad might put museums out of business entirely if developers keep bringing these kinds of applications to the table.
