Flipboard is a favorite application among many iOS and Android users for content consumption. When the app was released into the App Store in 2010, I quickly downloaded the app to my iPad and still use it daily for reading news wherever I happen to be. It looks like I’m not the only one. Flipboard has just announced usage figures, and boy, they’re pretty amazing. When Flipboard released usage numbers late last year, they had only hit roughly 5 million users. Now, an iPhone and Android app later, Flipboard has just announced that they have over 20 million users who generate over 3 billion “flips” per month.
With these usage numbers come more interesting statistics. According to TechCrunch, Flipboard has stated that users in Mexico read the most articles per day while Brazilian users spend the most time in the app. As of now, Japanese users are the most social out of the 200 countries where Flipboard is used. It is also worth noting that all of the countries above have localized versions of the app.
Other interesting stats include the fact that users spend an average of 86 minutes per month within Flipboard. Over 1.5 million Flipboard members use the application daily, while 75 percent of their total user base has connected a social networking website to the app. These are pretty impressive statistics if you ask me.
If you’re unaware, Flipboard is a content consumption application for both iOS and Android. Flipboard allows users to link their favorite news sources and social networks to the application to create a book-like way of consuming content. Users can flip through pages of news and other content from their connected content sources as well as their friends’ Facebook and Twitter suggestions.
