Just three days ago we wrote a post about Penultimate getting an upgrade to include sexy new Retina graphics. Between then and now, we’ve gotten news that Penultimate has been purchased by Evernote.
Yup, that Evernote.
From the Press Release:
Evernote, the company that’s helping the world remember everything, today announced the acquisition of Penultimate, the most popular digital handwriting application for iPad, and the fourth best-selling iPad app of all time. The acquisition will allow Evernote to expand its handwriting capabilities, while also making Penultimate available on more platforms and devices.
There’s no word on how much the application was purchased for at this time. But, Ben Zotto, the founder and developer behind Penultimate, has written up a nice little blog post about the acquisition, and we recommend heading over there to give it a read. Long story short, Ben will be joining the Evernote family, and they’ll be working quickly to get the application on other devices as well as bringing better handwriting tools to Evernote directly.
