When the ABC Player launched for the iPad, there was a severe limitation to the app: No 3G compatibility. Now that over 300,000 3G iPads are out in the wild, ABC plans on releasing an update to the player that will play a lower-quality video stream over 3G while allowing a high-quality wifi stream. If you’re in the US, you can look forward to this update in the near future.
What are your thoughts about this paradigm of high-quality over wifi and low-quality over 3G? Are the telecoms holding back the iPad as a platform? Let us know by commenting on this post or hitting me up on Twitter.
