Sure, wireless speakers may be convenient, but it seems like the marketplace is filled with wireless speakers that look less than stellar. However, the folks at Libratone have set out to make a new AirPlay speaker that not only sounds good, but looks good as well. This speaker is called the Libratone Live and is one of Libratone’s higher-end wireless speakers.
The Libratone Live speakers feature FullRoom technology that gives its audio output 360-degree stereo sound. Internally, the speakers offer a combined output of 150 watts with a 50 watt bass driver, dual 25 watt tweeters, and dual 25 watt speakers on the midrange. In order to limit distortion at high audio levels, the Libratone Live offers digital signal processing to keep everything sounding relatively smooth.
As far as design goes, the Libratone Live is downright sexy. As you can see from the photos, the speaker is crafted out of real wood and has a colored cashmere coating that is sure to please the hipster in you. These cashmere coats are interchangeable, so you’re not stuck with a specific color when you buy your unit.
In terms of connectivity, the Libratone Live connects to your Mac or iOS device by way of Wi-Fi. To connect the speaker to your iPhone, just tap the bird-shaped button that is located on the side of the device and connect to the speaker via your Wi-Fi settings. If you’d prefer to connect to the speaker with a chord, you can do so with a standard 3.5mm audio cable.
The Libratone Live will run you a pricey $549 when purchased via Amazon.com. You can purchase the speaker in one of five colors: Slate Grey, Blueberry Black, Blood Orange, Lime Green and Vanilla Beige.
