Fantastical 2, a Calendar.app alternative for iPhone and Mac, has finally made its way to the iPad. Flexibits, the developers behind Fantastical, say that it has rewritten the app from the ground-up for iPad, and that it isn’t just a port from iPhone or OS X.
Fantastical 2 has a ton of cool features on the iPad, like Dictation and a split-screen UI, among others. Dictation lets you add events to your calendar easily using spoken commands. For instance, if you want to add a recurring event to your calendar, you can tell Fantastical that you “need to go to the gym every Tuesday at 8pm.” Fantastical will recognize this as a recurring event and add it to your calendar as so.
On the UI side of things, Fantastical gives you the best of the list-view and the calendar-view at the same time with its split-screen “Dashboard” interface. On the top portion of your iPad’s screen, you’ll see a traditional weekly calendar view, giving you a quick and easy view of your week. The bottom half of the screen, however, gives you a list of all upcoming events for a more straight-forward glance at your schedule.
Fantastical 2 for iPad is available for purchase now for $9.99 in the App Store. This is a limited-time offer, with the price increasing to $15 in the near future.
